UEW Matriculates 256 Sandwich Students, Emphasises Excellence and Responsibility
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has held a matriculation ceremony for 256 sandwich students for the 2023/2024 academic year at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.
The cohort comprises 114 males and 142 females, representing diverse professional backgrounds. The students are enrolled in various academic programmes, including certificate, diploma, post-diploma/bachelor’s degree, and postgraduate programmes.
In his address, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor of UEW, emphasised the importance of academic excellence, integrity, and responsibility. "As members of the UEW community, you are entrusted to uphold our values of integrity, respect and excellence," he stated.
Prof. Mitchual urged students to approach their studies with purpose and dedication, maintaining high standards of academic integrity. He also encouraged them to embody UEW's core values, including academic excellence, service to the community, good governance, and social inclusiveness.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the matriculation ceremony signified the students' transition into the academic community. "Today, you become part of a legacy of scholars, educators and leaders. You are now ambassadors of UEW," he remarked.
Out of 868 applications received, 692 were admitted, with 256 registering by the close of registration.
The matriculation ceremony marks a transformative journey for the sandwich students, guided by UEW's commitment to academic excellence, innovation and responsibility.
