Oration Vol. 1
The University of Education, Wineba is arguably the fastest growing University in Ghana and indeed Africa. The fast pace with which it is growing coupled with the advancement in technology exposes it to losing its history. This is the raison d'etre of this publication.
Tracking the history of UEW is of great importance to us because to understand UEW today we need to understand what created it.
We need therefore to fully get the events that shaped who we are today. Our History gives us the oppotunity to see how daily life has changed over the years, and what goes into fostering that change. Knowing the history of UEW is very important to some in finding a sense of identity.
What did those before us have to say. We need to hear thier stories, preserve them, and pass them ddown to those after us.
Hearing the stories of those before us can inspire us to take action in our own lives. Knowing that our forbears came to this University and worked their hardest for better life, inpires us to do our best of providing for the future UEW.
What better way can we suggest for looking into past of UEW than through the words of the traiblazer Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah. Vol.1 of the Orator teaches the essential qualities of effectiveness, decisiveness, boldness, joyfulness, orderliness, endurance, thoroughness, courage, flexibility, generarosity, availabity and compassion.
It summarizes the person of Jophus and what made him stand our as him stand out as a leader who laid the foundation of the process of transforming some seven (7) Colleges of Education in Ghana into a world class Teacher Education University. The speeches in this collection are that of the first Vice-Chancelor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah - his words, his thoughts, and his long term vision for a starting University, University of Education, Winneba.
