Integrated Home Economics Level 300 Students Mount Runway
As part of their Costume Design, Construction, and Clothing Technology course requirements, Level 300 students in the Department of Integrated Home Economics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have mounted the runway to showcase their competencies in fashion design.
The fashion show, which was heavily patronised by the students and the University community, took place at the forecourt of the Faculty of Home Economics Education, North Campus, UEW. It is held annually as part of the end-of-semester examinations for students.
The students were tasked with specific topics to produce designs to unearth their aptitude and creativity in fashion to be showcased on the runway for assessment by lecturers in the Department.
Mrs. Victoria Ghunney, the Head of the Department, stressed the importance of students upholding the skills they gained from the programme to become a force to be reckoned with in fashion design across Ghana, West Africa, and the world.
Lecturer of the course, Ms. Jacqueline Ogoe, encouraged the students to continue to work hard and endeavour to make appealing garments. She also urged the students never to be afraid of making mistakes when creating garments, noting that it is through these mistakes that they will establish their own businesses to employ others to reduce the unemployment situation in Ghana.
