Addressing an audience of faculty members during the presentation ceremony, Prof. Duku, also the Principal of UEW’s College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL), expressed his desire to support the institution in fostering new ideas and technological advancements.

He noted that during his time at the university, he and his peers had to learn through challenging circumstances, and he wants to ensure that current students have access to better resources. He underscored the importance of collaboration and equitable distribution of resources.

Prof. Duku encouraged students to embrace technology and innovation to stay competitive. “You can have an idea, but without the technology to support it, you may find yourself lagging,” he cautioned.

Prof. Emmanuel Obed Acquah, Dean of SCA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Duku for his continued generosity and commitment to advancing education. He emphasised the rarity and significance of such acts in the academic community. “Today, I am very happy because we find very few people in the system with this kind of dedication to make things possible,” he said.

Prof. Acquah underscored integrating technology into education to prepare students for modern challenges. “As you rightly said, in the 21st century, you cannot deliver effectively in the classroom without these tools. Your actions reflect a strong commitment to training the kind of teachers who can thrive in today’s world,” he added, commending the quality of the resources provided.

The Dean of SCA acknowledged books for the faculty’s library. He revealed that the library recently acquired 20 new shelves, which will be used to organise and make the donated books accessible to students. “These books will not remain here; they will go to the faculty library so students can access them. This will significantly enhance teaching and learning,” he noted.

Dr. Cyril S. Kpodo, Head of the Department of Art Education, who spoke on behalf of the Heads of Department (HoDs) at SCA, commended Prof. Duku for his commitment to improving the educational resources of the faculty. “On behalf of my colleague lecturers and the HoDs, we would like to thank you. Last year, you were here with interactive TVs, which have been put to good use. This year, you have returned with these projectors, we are truly grateful,” he stated.

Dr. Kpodo highlighted the positive impact of these contributions, noting how the interactive TVs introduced last year had already transformed the classroom experience, making learning more engaging and interactive for both lecturers and students. He expressed confidence that the newly donated projectors would further this mission. “We promise to put these projectors to judicious use, making learning more interactive and fun for lecturers and students,” he assured.

Prof. Duku’s contributions are a testament to the transformative power of alumni engagement. His dedication to the SCA not only provides immediate benefits but also sets a standard for giving back. With these resources, SCA is better positioned to nurture the next generation of artists and designers.
