Paabadu Construction Limited Hands over Lecture Block to UEW

Paabadu Construction Limited on Wednesday, 30th May, 2018 handed over the keys of a Lecture Block to Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) at the Central Campus, Winneba.

The project which was initiated by UEW to increase its Offices and Lecture Halls was funded by GetFund and constructed by Paabadu Construction Limited.

In his Welcome Address and Purpose for the Gathering, the Ag. Director, Physical Works and Development, Mr. Kwame K. Danso revealed that the Lecture Block consists of 24 Offices, eight Lecture Halls, four rooms namely Dancing, Dance Band (Performance), Changing and Xylophone Room(s), a modern Theatre, a Recording Studio, a Restaurant and Internet Cafe.

During the inspection exercise, Mr. Danso explained that the modern Theatre was filled with contemporary lighting and gadgets which could host both internal and external events thereby generating income for the University.

In his discourse, the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kagya-Agyemang expressed joy and gratitude to the Contractor for an excellent job done. He charged the beneficiaries to cooperate and use the facility for its intended purpose.  He however advised the end users to be very careful and maintain equipment for lasting use.

In his speech, the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq called for concerted effort from all the professionals who were in charge of the project.

“What is left is for the use and proper upkeep of the place. Most times, it is the users who actually run down the facility and I do not want us to assert that the culture of maintenance is poor in UEW. Therefore, we should all be committed to ensuring that; the place is properly kept, the place is used for the purpose for which it was established, the place is maintained so that we can get the value for it.” He said.

In his address, the Ag. Finance Officer, Mr. Bruno B. Chirani also tasked the Dean of School of Creative Arts and his Heads of Department (HoD) to make good use of the facility by creating new programmes to increase students’ population in order for UEW to get enough revenue to maintain the facility.

In his response, the Dean, School of Creative Arts, Dr. Patrique deGraft Yankson pledged he would ensure that lecturers and students operate the place well.

Among the Officials present at the interim handing over ceremony were; the Ag. Internal Auditor, Mr. Godwill Andoh-Mensah, former Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Cosmas Mereku; Ag. HoD of Graphic Design, Dr. Ebenezer Acquah and lecturers at the School of Creative Arts.
