History Library Supported With Books
The Department of History Education Library, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has received more than 500 books from Prof. John Kwadwo Osei-Tutu, a professor on sabbatical from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
The books included works on political science, sociology, and other subjects in addition to history. This was meant to encourage students to regularly use the facility to develop their expertise.
The donation took place at the History Library Room, North Campus, Winneba, on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023.

In his remarks, Prof. Osei-Tutu advised faculty and students to use the books appropriately in their coursework and research endeavours to encourage innovations that would benefit the university and the country as a whole.
“I anticipate staff and students to use the books to advance their knowledge. If they are left untouched on the shelf, it would have been useless to bring them here,” he remarked.
The Head of Department, History Education, Mrs. Anitha O. Adu-Boahen, who received the books on behalf of the University Librarian, expressed the Department’s joy at the kind gesture of being the recipients of the books to facilitate high-caliber academic work.
"I would on behalf of the Department like to thank Prof. John Osei-Tutu for his donation. In fact, a glance at the books would show that they are recent works that will benefit our students’ academic progress.
“We don’t encourage spoon-feeding students; instead, we want them in search of materials, examine them, and draw their own conclusions. So, donating these books to the Department will greatly aid in promoting what we want our students to accomplish,” she stated.

Mrs. Anitha Adu-Boahen expressed hope that the students would read the books.
“We are confident that students will read the books. We always urge our students to read because we appreciate the relevance of reading as an instrument for developing their potential," she said.
She disclosed that the Department was also looking forward to receiving some additional books from its previous head very soon. She urged other charitable persons or groups to support the Department as Prof. Osei-Tutu had.
Prof. Osei-Tutu, the donor, has been collaborating with the beneficiary department for a while through a Norwegian government-funded project called NORPART; as a result, he decided to provide the books to the Department to support its establishment and growth.
