UEW Matriculates Fresh Students at Ajumako Campus for 2025/2026 Academic Year
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ajumako Campus, formally inducted 510 new students during a matriculation ceremony held at the Ajumako Campus for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The ceremony, held concurrently with the matriculation event at Winneba Campus, officially marked the admission of newly enrolled students into the University.
Mr. Alexander Essah, the College Registrar, explained that matriculation constitutes a critical statutory requirement for every university student. He indicated that, pursuant to Statute 72 of the UEW Statutes (2020), a student may only be matriculated after they have been properly admitted and officially registered. Mr. Essah emphasised that, in a formal sense, an individual is recognised as a student of UEW following their participation in the matriculation ceremony.
Mr. Essah announced that at the close of registration for the 2025/2026 academic year, a total of 510 fresh students had successfully registered, comprising 363 undergraduates and 147 postgraduates at the Ajumako Campus. He urged the matriculants to take the oath seriously, internalise its meaning and allow it to guide their academic and personal conduct throughout their stay on campus.
He encouraged students to take full advantage of the available facilities and opportunities to ensure a successful and impactful academic experience.
Administering the matriculation pronouncement, Prof. Esther Yeboah Danso-Wiredu, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, formally admitted the students to the rights, privileges and responsibilities of their respective schools, faculties and departments. She congratulated the fresh students on successfully navigating the University’s competitive admissions process and described their admission as a major milestone in their academic journey.
Prof. Esther Danso-Wiredu emphasised that the University remains committed to training competent professional teachers for all levels of education, advancing knowledge through research, disseminating scholarly work and contributing meaningfully to educational policy and national development.
Highlighting the University’s student-centred philosophy of education, she underscored the importance of holistic development and encouraged the matriculants to embrace discipline, hard work and integrity.
The ceremony concluded with the Registrar formally dissolving the assembly, marking the end of an important academic tradition that ushers in a new generation of scholars. The 2025/2026 matriculants now begin their academic pursuit at UEW, poised to contribute to the advancement of education and national development.
