UEW Management Introduces New Vice-Chancellor to Neenyi Ghartey VII

The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has introduced the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, to the Paramount Chief of the Effutu traditional area and Chancellor of the university, Neenyi Ghartey VII.

The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, 10th October, 2023, emphasised the bridge between the university and the local community, highlighting the university's commitment to community engagement.

Neenyi Ghartey VII, in his remarks, expressed delight in the University Management’s mindedness to pay him a courtesy call to officially introduce the new Vice-Chancellor to him and his entourage.

"We genuinely appreciate your transparency in keeping us informed about institutional events, which reflects your sincere commitment to collaboration. As we welcome the new Vice-Chancellor, we extend our heartfelt wishes for his successful tenure and invoke divine protection to guide his diligent leadership. We eagerly anticipate working together to enhance our university," he pledged.

Neenyi Ghartey VII recounted the contributions of the university to the local economy and assured of the community’s support to lift the university to its right place as an internationally reputable institution for teacher education and research.

In his response, Prof. Mitchual ascribed his appointment to a divine calling rather than his personal volition. He further emphasised his commitment to carrying out his duties with the utmost fairness and proficiency.

"Progress thrives in the presence of peace, yet falters in its absence. Peace is the vital cornerstone every leader requires to thrive. Our unwavering commitment is to steer UEW towards continuous growth and unprecedented achievements.  We believe that together, there is no challenge we cannot surmount, so let us unite and allow the spirit of peace to reign supreme throughout my administration.

"We are proud to boast of a highly talented workforce, consisting of dedicated individuals ranging from professors, and registrars to lecturers and beyond. I am committed to ensuring that during my four-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor of UEW, we will foster the growth of our institution, making a meaningful impact on the local economy. Rest assured, we will exert every effort to maintain a harmonious and peaceful environment within the university," he affirmed.

Prof. Mitchual expressed gratitude to his Management team for their unwavering support and cooperation since he took office.

As required by custom, the Principal of the College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL), UEW, Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, led the Management to present some bottles of Schnapps and assorted items to the paramount chief of the Effutu Traditional Council and his entourage on behalf of the university.  

Other members of the Management team present at the occasion were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Antwi; the Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah; the Finance Officer, Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie; and the Principal, College of Languages Education, Prof. Dominic K. Danso Mensah.
