UEW Donates Siren System to Panfokrom Technical Institute

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has donated a siren system to the Panfokrom Technical Institute to help improve time management among students and promote a disciplined academic environment.
The formal presentation of the donation took place at the Council Chamber of UEW on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025, where representatives from both institutions gathered to affirm a growing relationship centred on education, discipline and mutual growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Jeremiah Addison Anyan, Deputy Registrar of Operations at UEW, highlighted the motivation behind the gesture. He explained that the university had received a formal request from the technical institute seeking support for a siren system. After reviewing the proposal, the university processed and approved the acquisition of the equipment, which would be installed immediately by the supplier.
“The supplier has confirmed readiness to install the system. We look forward to seeing the equipment fully operational the same day,” Mr. Anyan noted.

Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UEW, underscored the broader significance of the donation. He described the siren system not merely as a time signal but as a tool to instil discipline and structure among the students.
“This should mark the beginning of a fruitful relationship between UEW and Panfokrom. The siren will serve as a training mechanism, helping students manage their time efficiently in preparation for university life, where such structures are self-imposed,” Prof. Duku said.
He further encouraged students to take charge of their schedules and view the siren as an opportunity to cultivate time-conscious habits that are vital for success in higher education and beyond.

The delegation from Panfokrom Technical Institute, led by Mr. Eric Antwi, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the university’s swift response and generosity. “We did not expect such a quick response. Your support means a lot to us. We promise to put this equipment to good use for the benefit of both students and staff,” Mr. Antwi stated.
He also acknowledged the contributions of students and staff at the technical institute, particularly in launching student-led initiatives such as the SRC and school management system projects, which aim to enhance leadership and innovation on campus. “This siren system is just the beginning. We believe this partnership will open the door to many more collaborative projects with UEW,” he added.

As part of the agreement, UEW officials plan to visit the Panfokrom campus after installation to inspect the system and assess its impact on student life. The donation is seen as a seed planted by UEW—one that is expected to yield measurable outcomes in academic discipline and productivity.
The event not only signaled the start of a promising partnership between the university and the technical institute but also demonstrated UEW’s commitment to extending its educational influence beyond its campuses and into the broader community.
