UEW Council Chairman Pledges Support to New Chancellor

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Nana Ofori Ansah I, has assured the new Chancellor of the University, Neenyi Ghartey VII, of the Council’s support towards the strive for the growth of UEW.

He stated that the Council will provide the Chancellor with the necessary support so that they may collaborate to accomplish the shared objective of the university.

The Chair of the Governing Council made the promise at the investiture and induction of Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, as the second Chancellor of UEW. The colourful ceremony was held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba, on Friday, 21st April, 2023.

“I hereby call on management, convocation, staff, alumni and students to acknowledge Neenyi Ghartey VII as the next Chancellor of UEW and also give him all the needed support to ensure he succeeds in this role,” he implored all and sundry.

Nana Ofori Ansah I was confident that the new Chancellor’s qualities would be brought to bear on the future objectives and aims of the university.

“Neenyi Ghartey VII is a friend of the University having served as a Member of the Governing Council from 2017-2021. I am happy that as an industrious son of the Effutu land, he has had and continues to have a keen interest in the development of the University. Neenyi Ghartey VII has had an illustrious life; from his humble beginning as a teacher through his contributions to the agricultural sector, community development, the National House of Chiefs and other key sectors of the country,” he spoke highly of Neenyi Ghartey VII.

The Governing Council Chairman thanked the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency (H. E.) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the special honour of gracing the occasion and his intervention in the road map towards peace and equity at the university. He also thanked the Chairperson and members of the Search Committee for getting UEW a person who perfectly fits the Chancellor position.
