Addressing the gathering at the handover ceremony, Prof. Avoke expressed gratitude for the privilege of serving the institution and imparted words of wisdom for the future. “The essence of this ceremony is to append our signatures to a document that symbolises the end of an era and the beginning of another. The Auditor will perform the role of checking even as we sign so that there’s clarity about what has been handed over. If there’re any concerns, attention will be drawn and appropriately corrected. I’m handing over these documents to you as a framework to guide you into the future”

Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, assumes office with a wealth of experience and a vision for the future. A renowned scholar in Wood Science and Technology and a stalwart in vocational and technical education, Prof. Mitchual brings a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to advancing UEW's mission.

In his inaugural remark, Prof. Mitchual articulated his vision for the institution, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence, research innovation, and inclusivity. "I am honored and humbled to take on this role, and I am eager to work alongside the incredible faculty, staff, and students here at UEW. Together, we will build on the strong foundation laid by Prof. Avoke and previous VCs and continue to push the boundaries of knowledge, learning, and societal impact."

I’m not so naïve about issues in UEW. I’m mindful of the difficulties here and the gains that have been made so far. I want to indicate that I’ll not derail the achievements made so far. The aspirations of stakeholders have been to have someone who’ll foster a peaceful environment, and I pledge to offer exactly that. I have confidence in the team that I’m going to work with, and I’m certain that together we’d work to get UEW to the next level. I see a very bright future for UEW,” he said.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Antwi; Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah; the Finance Officer, Dr. Theophilus Ackorlie; and the Ag. Internal Auditor, Mr. Charles Coffie, took turns to congratulate Prof. Mitchual and pledged their support for his leadership.
