Biography
I was born in Amanasi in the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. My late father hails from Akwapim Mampong and my mother comes from Akwapim Akropong both in the Eastern Region of Ghana. My primary education started in Amanase Local Authority primary School and continued to the middle school at Aggrey Memorial Middle School in Sekondi in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana. Fortunately for me, I gained admission to the famous Ghana Secondary Technical Scholl (GSTS) in Takoradi in1976. The nickname for GSTS is "The GIANTS". In GSTS, I was active in many social activities. I joined the School Choir and and was invited to the School football team in my early years in school. I gained entry to the sixth form after my GCE Ordinary Level examination also in GSTS. As far as my secondary education is concerned I'm a true GIANT after obtaining my Advanced Level certificate in 1983. I began my tertiary education at the Kishinev State University in Moldova in the then Soviet Union in 1984 where I obtained my Masters degree in mathematics in 1990. As a loyal Ghanaian, I returned to Ghana and embarked on my National Service at GB Olivant of UAC in Accra. In 1992, I was appointed an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the Mathematics Department. In the same year, I was appointed as Part-Time lecturer at the newly established University College of Education, Winneba (UCEW) in the Department of Mathematics Education. Thus, I was teaching at UCC as a permanent lecturer and at UCEW as a part-Time lecturer until 1997 where I transferred my services to UCEW. I'm therefore, a founding member of the Mathematics Education Department in the UCEW now University of Education, Winneba (UEW). In 2001, I received an offer to embark on my PhD research program at the University of Vermont in the USA at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. I returned to Ghana in 2005 to prepare for my PhD thesis defense and successfully graduated in 2007. I'm still engaged by the UEW as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics Education. I served in many managerial positions in the UEW including Dean, School of Graduate Studies, Dean, Faculty of Science Education, Director, Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA), Deputy Director, Institute of Research and Innovation Studies (IRIS), Head, Department of Mathematics Education and a many more.
