Biography
Jones Apawu is currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics Education at the University of Education, Winneba. He has been with the University of Education, Winneba since August, 2010. He has written several articles on the topics of mathematics and education, and has also been involved in a number of studies on topics such as the use of ICT in teaching mathematics, the effectiveness of different teaching methods and the impact of policy changes on education.
Administratively, Prof. Apawu was a former Head of Department for the Department of Mathematics Education of the University of Education, Winneba. Besides, he was the graduate coordinator for the Department of Mathematics Education and former Coordinator of Educational Technology Initiative and Consultancy Services at the erstwhile Externally Funded Projects Office of the University of Education, Winneba, now The Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Development (DRID). Presently, Prof. Apawu is the Ag. Director of Programmes and Innovations at the College for Distance and e-Learning of the University of Education, Winneba.
Prof. Apawu has provided consultancy services for National Teaching Council (NTC), Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL) and other national and international organisations. Prof. Apawu was among a team of researchers that won a grant awarded by USAID to conduct research on the project title “Youth Qualitative Study in Ghana: Sexual Coercion at Sexual Debut and Implications for Health and Wellbeing”, a follow-up to the main 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey – 2022. He is an expert in courseware design using the MOODLE platform. In a nutshell, he is a factotum.
