Publishing and Web Development
This Department is the hub of documentation, production and publishing and web-content management. It plays a versatile role in creating design solutions of high visual and communicative impact for promoting the corporate goals of the University. The Department liaises, produces, and edits as well as supervises contacts for the production of the University's documents such as brochures, reports, multi-media content, and web-based publications.
The Department is internally organised into four (4) main Units namely:
- Editing and Documentation Unit
- Web Development and Online Content Management Unit
- Graphic Design Unit
- Audio/Visual Communication Unit
The overall functions of the Department include:
- Documentation of the University's history, culture, and symbols
- Keep accurate and up-to-date data bank on all milestone events, newspaper cuttings on higher education-related news, newspaper reviews, broadcast materials, press releases, speeches, and other communication materials
- Publish university documents such as annual reports, newsletters, and magazines on university events and activities
- Manage editorial processes by receiving manuscripts from staff and faculty writers for publication and ensure that such scripts are grammatically and factually correct, and readable
- Work with printers by providing corporate information and editing materials to produce quality publications
- Work with the PlanningUnit to publish the Basic Statistics of the University
- Gather photos and special themes for the purpose of producing calendars and diaries with publishers for the subsequent year
- Ensure strict compliance with all the unique features of the University logo and letterheads in all publications of the University
- Ensure that all university pre-press materials going to the press are timely with the expected quality and not compromised
- Gather information materials from various faculties, departments, divisions, and units for the purpose of typesetting and ensuring conformity with an in-house editorial style.
- Provide photo coverage for university functions and catalogue same for references in the immediate and future time
- Print and control the University's outdoor banners, posters and notices, etc
- Ensure constant refreshing and update of new content the University's official website and social media handles ( i.e. ensure website and web interface management)
- Manage and monitor the University's website for the purpose of updating and upgrading
- Analyse search engines to maximise traffic to the website
- Publish content, streamline navigation and increase online presence to the potential publics.
- Coordinate reports for the University's website
