The Chairman of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Governing Council, Nana Ofori Ansah I, has met with all levels of University staff to clear the air about recent events at the university.

The meetings were held on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022 with Members of Convocation and Wednesday, 9th March, 2022 with Senior and Junior Staff at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

Nana Ansah I, in his remarks at both meetings, revealed the unbiased role Council and Management of UEW have been playing to ensure that peace, reconciliation and togetherness prevail in the University.

He recounted that the Governing Council, in its efforts to ensure happiness and a comfortable working environment for staff, has a roadmap for the resolution of issues arising from the Council’s compliance to the Winneba High Court’s ruling on Wednesday, 2nd February, 2022, to reinstate Prof. Mawutor Avoke and five others to the University.

As part of the roadmap according to him, Council had set up a five-member Peace and Reconciliation Committee to receive petitions, review the same and make recommendations to bring healing and lasting peace to the University.

Nana Ansah I pleaded with staff to be each other’s keeper and to work together for the welfare of UEW. “Litigation must end; fighting must end. Let’s find mutual ways of resolving our issues. Let’s create an atmosphere that will be favourable to all.”

There were open fora for frank discussions of issues bothering reconciliation, peace and the progress of UEW.

Among the Management members of UEW present at the meetings were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke; Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang; Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq.; the Principal, College of Languages Education, Ajumako Campus, Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah; Head of the Finance Section, Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie; Internal Auditor, Ms. Sena Dake; and Deputy Registrar, Division of Operations, Mr. Alexander W.
