15 Retire from Kumasi Campus of UEW
The Management of the College of Technology Education (COLTEK), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on Friday, 25th September, 2020, treated 15 workers to a farewell party ahead of their retirement from the service of the University, on 30th September, 2020.
The retirees, comprised five Senior Members, three Senior Staff, and seven Junior Staff. Each of whom was given a package worth more than GH₵ 6,000.00, a citation in recognition of their respective contributions to the University’s development, and a certificate of honour.
Addressing the party, the Principal of COLTEK, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, conveyed UEW Management’s appreciation to the retirees for the many ways they helped to keep the University on steady progress.
He encouraged retirees to maximise all the post-retirement facilities and opportunities that the University has provided citing the University’s medical care policy which covers retirees and their spouses as an example.
While encouraging them to continue to be good ambassadors of UEW, the Principal indicated Management’s preparedness to accept constructive criticisms, brilliant and thought-provoking ideas from them to help the University grow into greater competitive heights.
Prof. Sarfo said COLTEK was soon to institute what he called “Exit Interview Sessions” where retirees would be allowed to speak their minds on the state of affairs at COLTEK; criticize where necessary but most importantly, share their experiences and propose workable solutions to improving decision-making and developments at the College.
He also called on the staff to consolidate the unity of the college and to work hard for a greater impact at the college.
He encouraged the staff to focus on contributing their efforts to the collective benefit of the University rather than being overly self-seeking. He averred that staff offering help to grow the University would be more fulfilled, even beyond active service.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Maame Serwah said the farewell party was a clear indication of the premium Management places on the individual roles of the retirees for the growth of the College, and that gives each of them a sense of fulfillment.
She was full of gratitude to God, UEW, and the families of retirees for their various roles and support to them.
Present at the party were the College Registrar; Deans of Faculties of Technical Education (FTE); Business Education (FBE); Vocational Education (FVE); and Education and Communication Sciences (FECS) as well as Heads of Department, staff, and families of retirees.
