UEW to Partner University of Virginia

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is poised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, to develop joint research programmes that are relevant to contemporary education.
The University of Education, Winneba is excited to work with the University of Virginia on staff exchange, academic resources and publications exchange, study abroad, and undergraduate and postgraduate student exchange programmes.
This was revealed during a courtesy call on UEW Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke by a team from Charlottesville and the Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, 11th May, 2022, at the Council Chamber.

Prof. Avoke told the guests that he would put a lot of thought into the core and essential areas that would be of interest to both universities with the aim of securing an MoU to formalise the collaboration. He went on to say that universities develop alliances to survive, hence UEW is encouraged by this and welcomes any collaboration from the delegation.
"What makes it even more important is that the two cities already have a relationship, with our university as a part of it. It's just the icing on the cake, and we'll be delighted if it's completed as soon as feasible "Prof. Avoke stated.
Leader of the Charlottesville delegation and former Major of Charlottesville, Mr. Dave Norris, indicated that Charlottesville and Winneba are sister cities and both coincidentally are university communities and so, it would be ideal to connect the two universities for student exchanges programmes, faculty exchanges, joint research, study abroad and other kinds of opportunities.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Effutu, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, in his purpose for the courtesy call, noted that it was to revisit the collaborative discussion both parties had a few months ago.
He urged the Vice-Chancellor to appoint a contact person to work directly with Charlottesville to help finalise the MoU so that the agreement could be signed when the delegation returned to UEW on their next visit.
