Biography
Dr. Emmanuel Makabu Jagri Tamanja is a Spatial Development Planner and a Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Research into Basic Education (NCRIBE), at the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) in the University of Education, Winneba. I have extensive skills and experience in teaching at various levels of education and evaluating programmes and interventions in education in Ghana. Since 2015, I have Coordinated research and thesis writing seminars for graduate students of the University of Education, Winneba, with the latest ending in March 2021. Besides the worth of hands-on knowledge in research design, strong skills to develop research instruments, capture data, analyze and write good reports, I have led and co-led teams to develop proposals for funding and managed funded research for a number of reputable organisations including MaserCard Foundation, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNICEF, USAID, CODESRIA, T-TEL, the Government of Ghana and affiliate agencies. For instance, I was a lead researcher at IERIS to conduct a study on the motives of student teachers for pursuing teaching as a profession at the University of Education, Winneba. Also, I was a member of a team of Independent Researchers that evaluated the perceptions of Principals of Colleges of Education on the T-TEL programme in their colleges in August, 2017. From 2017 to 2019, I was a Co-PI in a study on University-Community relations in five public universities in Ghana. I am a Co-PI in a study we are concluding on a national evaluation of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination study for the National Teaching Council. I believe my vast experience in educational research and teamwork makes me a very good choice for this task.
