Biography
PROF. CHARLES NYARKO ANNOBIL (PhD)
Charles Nyarko Annobil is a Professor of Curriculum and Teaching and Religious and Moral Education at the Department of Basic Education of the University of Education, Winneba. He is also an expert in Christian Religious Studies as well as Pedagogic Studies and General Methods of Teaching. He was born at Abura Dunkwa of the Central Religion where he obtained both his basic and secondary education from Abura Dunkwa Methodist School and Aburaman Secondary School respectively, between 1976 and 1988. He trained as a professional teacher at Abetifi Training College, Abetifi- Kwahu and had Certificate ‘A’ 3-Year Post Secondary in 1991. He obtained his First, Second and Third Degrees from the Department of Science and Social Sciences Education of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast, spanning between 1996 and 2016. He has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Curriculum and Teaching
He has been a professional teacher for the past 33 years. He taught at the Junior High level for five (5) years, at the College of Education level for six (6) years, and has been teaching at various levels of the University for twenty (20) years. He has supervised several students to complete their project works, dissertations, theses and other academic writings. He has contributed tremendously to the success of his students and many other individuals across Ghana. Many students and early career lecturers within and outside the University of Education, Winneba have benefitted from his tutorship and mentorship.
His research interests are in religious and moral issues, curriculum studies and teaching, social studies and culture and music. He has been engaged in a number of research works and has authored and co-authored over thirty (30) publications based on his areas of specialism. He has attended both local and international conferences and presented papers; which have benefitted his readers for their personal development and academic endeavours.
He has gone through the ranks as Research Associate, Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and an Associate Professor since his appointment into this University in 2004. He has served the University of Education in various capacities; as Research Associate, Academic Counselor, Departmental Exams Officer, Graduate Coordinator, Head of Department and Vice Dean. He is currently the Vice Dean of School of Education and Life-Long Learning, UEW, Winneba.
He has developed and taught courses in Religious and Moral Education since 2005 for Colleges of Education and Universities. He is a member of several professional associations and other academic organizations. He is subject expert, chief examiner (External and Internal Assessor), team lead, part-time lecturer, editor of course manuals, writer and test developer, moderator of test items and peer reviewer of manuscripts. He has been privileged to serve on a member of boards and committees of the University of Education, Winneba. He has rendered substantial community service at the community, national, global and the University levels. He is married to Mrs Sarah Nyarko Annobil, and they have been blessed with four (4) children.
