M.Ed Basic Education
Description
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Basic Education programme is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills and expertise to excel in teaching and leadership roles in basic education institutions. The programme focuses on developing expertise in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation, as well as enhancing pedagogical skills for effective teaching and learning at the basic education level. The programme is also intended to prepare students to become the driving force for educational innovation, policy, and practice in basic education delivery. The M.Ed. programme is unique since it gives students the option(s) to specialise in subject areas such as English, Science, Mathematics, Religious and Moral Education and Physical Education. By offering these specialisations, the M.Ed. programme acknowledges the distinct challenges and opportunities in each subject area, providing educators with the advanced knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen fields and make lasting impacts on their students. Similarly, the programme has been uniquely designed to provide students with research skills, collaborative opportunities, mentorship, and access to research networks. The programme therefore opens students to the recent trends in basic education and equips them to apply their expertise through scholarship, research and real-world practice to address both the most pressing challenges of the day and the enduring human questions on quality basic education delivery. Thus, the programme’s focus on research-based practices is also critical, as it enables educators to make informed decisions and contribute to the development of education policy. By enrolling in the Master of Education in Basic Education programme, educators will invest in their professional growth, contribute to the development of education and enhance the quality of basic education delivery in Ghana and beyond.
