I am Prof. Rebecca Atchoi Akpanglo-Nartey (PhD). I hold a PhD in linguistics from the Department of Applied Linguistics, University of Education, Winneba. I have worked with the University of Education, Winneba for 20 years and am currently the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Education. I started in 2003 as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Applied Linguistics, UEW and became an assistant lecturer and subsequently, a lecturer in 2005. In 2013 I was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer and to Associate Professor in 2021. My specialization is in Linguistic phonetics and sociolinguistics. I teach undergraduate and post graduate courses such as Experimental Phonetics, Sociolinguistics, Phonetics and Phonology of English language, general introduction to linguistics, Language Variation and Language Change, Contact Linguistics.
In addition to the teaching of courses, I have been in management positions over the years. I was the Head of Department of the Applied Linguistics Department in University of Education Winneba from July 2011 to August 2015, the Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and Communication from September 2015 to July 2017. I was also in the position of the Vice Dean of School of Communication and media Studies, UEW, from August 2021 to October 2021, Vice Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages Education from October 2021 to July 2022 and Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages Education from August 2022 last three academic years. In addition to these responsibilities, I have served as academic counsellor
for both the undergraduate and post graduate students in the Department of Applied Linguistics. I have supervised and continue to supervise many MPhil., M.Ed. and PhD theses in linguistics and Teaching of English as a second language (TESL). I am a hardworking and lovely academic. Her hobbies are reading, listening to music, and admiring
nature.
