Winneba Study Centre Coordinator Entreats Tutors to motivate Students

The Coordinator for the Winneba Study Centre, Mrs. Juliana Ohene has entreated Tutors to motivate students to take their studies seriously and also integrate technology in their teaching for effective delivery of the syllabus.

She said this at the in-service training seminar organized by the Division of Human Resource in partnership with the Centre for Distance Education at the Institute of Educational Development and Extension (IEDE) on Thursday, 23rd March, 2017. She encouraged Tutors to know the names of students and use them often as possible during classes, prepare for every class, pay attention to their strengths and limitations of every student, reward their strengths and address their weaknesses, and find a good way of handling their wrong answers.

She told tutors to vary their instructional strategies, avoid sitting and teaching, allow students to come out with their examples in a controlled lecture room atmosphere, provide opportunities for students to speak in class, show adult learners the respect they deserve, give them intermittent try test to put them on their toes and give them a set of tutorial questions to work on before coming for the next tutorials. “This will go a long way to motivate your students to enjoy your class”, she added.
