UEW-CODeL Outgoing Principal Interacts with Staff

The outgoing Principal of the College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Francis Owusu Mensah, has held an interactive meeting with the staff of CODeL at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room in Winneba ahead of his exit.  

The Principal, whose term of office expires in early August 2022, worked his way up through the College's ranks, starting as a lecturer and progressing to a coordinator for field services, head of the Centre for Distance Education, and founding principal of CODeL.

Prof. Owusu Mensah stated that the meeting was convened to officially say goodbye to staff prior to the end of his tenure at CODeL. "It is just proper and courteous that we have this all-important interaction as I draw the curtains on one chapter in the life of CODEL," he said.

He advised staff to support and show utmost respect to whoever succeeds him and other management members to aid the growth of the College.

"Therefore, let's make sure that as college staff, we all hold ourselves to high standards so that when we are seen to be such, those we invite from other departments to help us conduct our exams would have no choice but to match up. Given that we founded the college, we must establish the standard," said he.

Prof. Owusu Mensah continued by pointing out that the distance education industry has recently grown to be extremely competitive; as a result, he reminded the College to keep working extra hard to maintain and upgrade a responsive administrative setup to address students' needs and offer top-notch tutoring at the study centres.

Mr. Jerry Addison Anyan reiterates the staff's commitment to working hard towards the advancement of the College

The Deputy Registrar of CODeL, Mr. Jerry Addison Anyan, applauded Prof. Owusu Mensah for guiding the college from its inception to the present. He assured him that as he leaves, the College staff would keep working hard to advance the College's reputation.

The Director of CODeL, Dr. Kaakyire Frimpong Duku, lauded Prof. Owusu Mensah for making time to interact with CODeL staff. "At least I have also been around for a while and I’ve never witnessed a leader, from VC-ship to Deanship, where an outgoing leader is prepared to meet his subordinates for an exit meeting," he recalled.
