GRADUATE SCHOOL AND IERIS RE-ACTIVATE GRADUATE SEMINAR SERIES
The School of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the Institute of Educational Research and Innovative Studies (IERIS) have organised a Research Seminar for Graduate Students and Faculty on the theme “International Visiting Scholar Research Seminar Series (2016).” The Seminar which was held on Tuesday, 26th April, 2016 was meant to expose participants to approaches that could be used to develop Universities in developing countries into high quality research intensive Universities with demonstrable impact. In his welcome statement, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Prof. J.O. Ammah said the seminar sought to activate the organisation of graduate seminar series in the University. He indicated that the Seminar would be held regularly to encourage Graduate Students and Faculty to complete their research. The presenter, a senior lecturer from Monash University, Australia, Dr. Joseph Seyram Agbenyega presented on the topics: Research quality and Impact: The measure of contemporary Universities in globalised world and Research training and Postgraduate Supervision: Issues and current trends. In the presentations, he said research is a key element of an innovative and economically prosperous nation. He noted that for Ghana to be competitive in a knowledge based economy, research in the country must be of the highest quality and standing comparable to any internationally. He advocated for the development of a Research Quality Framework (RQF) for Ghanaian Government and Universities.
