Effutu Zongo Community Congratulates Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni

A 12 member delegation of Effutu Muslim Leaders and Chiefs on Monday, 10th September, 2018 paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni to congratulate him on his appointment as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The delegation expressed joy about the appointment and promised their unflinching support to Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni and Management for a peaceful coexistence. They also revealed their readiness to support UEW administration for the development of Effutuman.

The 12 member delegation, led by the Chief of Zongo, Alhaji Chief Sulemana Salga IV expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his contribution to the development of the Zongo Community in the area of education, provision of amenities and engaging qualified sons and daughters of the Muslim community in the employment of the University.

The delegation again expressed gratitude towards the enhanced collaboration and recognition between the Zongo Community and the University. They also used the opportunity to thank the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Honourable Alexander Afenyo Markin for spearheading the collaboration.

Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni expressed his appreciation concerning their visit.  He said “I am honoured to receive such a powerful delegation".

The Vice-Chancellor stressed how important it was to establish good relationship with the community. He reiterated that the University was committed to its Local Content agenda and clarified that local content would not target only Effutu indigenes but all people living within the community who contribute positively to the development of Effutu. 

Present was the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James K. Kagya-Agyemang. Members of the delegation were the Chief Linguist, Alhaji Awal Abu Sadat; Municipal Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Mansuru Issah; Chief of Fanti Muslim, Alhaji Chief Abubakar Osman; Chief of Fulani, Alhaji Chief Ibrahim S. Barry; Islamic Scholar, Alhaji Gibrine Mohammed; Islamic Clergy, Alhaji Adam Abubarkari; Chief of Zabarima, Chief Halidu; Youth Leader, Alhaji Sani Abubakari; Wangara Leader, Mallam Ibrahim Korbo and Islamic Clergy, Alhaji Abubakari Donkoh
