B. A. (Geography Education)
Description
BA Geography Education is an undergraduate program that comprehensively prepares students for a career in Education, Science and Technology. The program overs all three aspect of geography (Physical, Human and Practical), eductational theories and pedogeological strategies.
The objectives of the programme are to:
» Initiate and offer relevant courses in the various fields of geography in order to prepare its students for the challenges of the classroom and industry.
» Equip students to effectively teach Geography at the pre tertiary level
» Generate textbooks, teaching and learning materials on the subject to meet the growing needs of the various levels of education in the country.
» Conduct timely and relevant research in order to promote scholarship in the subject in the country.
» Offer ancillary services to communities outside the University by way of research, consultancy and advice.

CATEGORY A.
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
SSSCE Applicants
SSSCE applicants seeking admission to the B.A. Geography Education programme must possess:
- Credit passes (A–D) in three core subjects (including English Language and Core Mathematics)
- A credit passes of A-C in Geography, and
- Credit passes (A-D) in two other elective subjects (including one of Economics, Elective Mathematics, Government and History).
WASSCE Applicants
WASSCE applicants seeking admission to the B.A. Geography Education programme must possess:
- Credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects (including English Language and Core Mathematics)
- A credit passes of A1-B3 in Geography, and
- Credit passes (A1-C6) in two other elective subjects (including one of Economics, Elective Mathematics, Government and History).
CATEGORY B.
GCE. A/ Level Applicants
GCE A/Level applicants seeking admission to the B.A. Geography Education programme must possess:
- Credit passes (A - D) in three GCE A/Level subjects (including Geography), plus
- Credit passes (1 – 6) in five GCE O. Level subjects (including English Language, Mathematics, Geography and a Science Subject for non-science students; and an Arts Subject for science students).
CATEGORY C.
Mature Applicants:
TEACHER APPLICANTS
- Mature teacher applicants seeking admission to the B.A. Geography Education programme must fulfil the following conditions:
- hold a College of Education certificate.
- pass entrance examinations (General Aptitude Test – GAT, and Subject Area Test – SAT) organized by the University of Education, Winneba.
NON-TEACHER-APPLICANTS
- Mature non-teacher applicants seeking admission to the B.A. Geography Education programme must fulfil the following conditions:
- be at least 25 years by 1st September of the academic year in which they wish to enrol.
- have, at least, two years working experience.
- pass entrance examinations (General Aptitude Test – GAT, and Subject Area Test – SAT, organized by the University of Education, Winneba), an interview or both
