1. Student Association
The student association in the Department is the Political Science Students Association, abbreviated as (POSSA).
Overview/Description
The Political Science Students’ Association (POSSA) was established in 2013 when the Department of Political Science Education was created. The Association is undoubtedly one of the most vibrant and well-organized student associations on the University Campus. POSSA’s motto reads “Molding the minds of the future.” The slogan of POSSA is “Custodians of Power”. The association is non-partisan and non-sectarian. It draws its membership from all registered students reading BA in Political Science Education in the University of Education, Winneba.
2. Aims/Objectives
POSSA aims to:
- bring together and foster friendship among all Political Science Students in the Department of Political Science Education of the University of Education, Winneba.
- seek the welfare of members.
- seek academic progress of members in conjunction with the department.
- organized and prepare student for leadership career in the association.

Activities
- Assist in the orientation of fresh undergraduate students
- Organizes POSSA Dinner and Awards Night

Achievements
- The following are some of the remarkable achievements of POSSA.
- The association has through its dues, bought a modern photocopy machine to run copies for its members at a reduced price.
- The association through its dues, has successfully purchased and maintained PA systems and projectors in the Department.
- The association has bought and fixed an internet router in the Department’s reading room (library).
- The association has furnished and stocked the Departmental Reading Room with furniture, current books and reading materials for the use of all students and staff.
- The association occasionally organizes educational trips to places such as the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, the Supreme Court of Ghana and the Parliament House all in Accra. Some Historic site in the Central Region includes; the Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle and some recreational site such as the Kakum National Park have also been visited.
