University Hall Residents Urged to Foster Maintenance Culture
The Deputy Registrar of Operations, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Mr. Alexander W. Essah, has admonished students of the University Hall to cultivate the culture of maintaining facilities at the hall to ensure the longevity of the properties of UEW.
He explained that a weak maintenance culture has severe ramifications for the institution's economy, forcing it to fail the majority of the time. As a result, he urged them to learn to maintain the items provided by the University Hall to speed up their studies at UEW.
Mr. Essah made these pronouncements on behalf of the Registrar of UEW, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., at the official commissioning of a reading room for the Junior Common Room Council (JCRC) of the University Hall at the University Hall Block C, North Campus, on Friday, May 6, 2022.
The Deputy Registrar, Division of Operations, advised students to refrain from using the facility for non-academic activities and instead use it to better their academic pursuits.
"That’s not the place for you to go and just converse. If you have been provided with this learning facility, then we expect you to improve your grades. It should be reflected in your academic achievements; otherwise, the efforts of your executives would have been in vain," he stated.
The Hall Manager, Mr. Erasmus Abeku Addokoh, expressed appreciation to the 2022 University Hall JCRC Executives for the foresight to renovate and create a purposeful reading room for students and alumni. Mr. Addokoh indicated that, since assuming office about a year ago, they have worked together with his team to improve the environment to nourish students’ learning and socialisation.
The President of the Hall, Mr. Emmanuel Adofo Baah, used the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to everyone present.
He stated that since taking office as President of the University Hall JCRC, it had been his priority to ensure that a reading room is available to the students in Block C of the Hall. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for ensuring that the project saw the light of day.
He went on to say that the reading room had been established to address several issues that students in the hall had previously encountered in their academic pursuits.
