UEW Council Meets Students Involved in Accident
The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has met with students who were involved in an accident at Asuboi, a suburb of Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The meeting, which took place at the Council Chamber of UEW on Thursday, 17th March, 2022, was purposed for the Council to apprise itself of the state of affairs after the accident and to observe firsthand how the surviving students were faring.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Nana Ansah I, in his remarks, extended warm regards from the Presidency and the Ministry of Education to the affected students. “I bring you felicitations from the Presidency, especially to our brothers and sisters who experienced the unfortunate road accident and survived it by the grace of God. I also have felicitations from the Ministry. The Minister wishes you a speedy recovery.”
The Chairman of the UEW Governing Council encouraged the surviving students to refrain from overly brooding over the accident at the detriment of their speedy recovery and studies, noting that life is more precious than anything in this world.
“We are sorry but let’s thank God for your lives. Where there is life, there’s hope. I am sure Management is taking good care of you. They will not leave anyone of you unattended under the current circumstance. You have gone through some trauma; take it easy, cast it out of your mind, and begin afresh. We pray that such an unfortunate accident never reoccurs in the life of the University,” he stated.
He commended the Management, staff at Student Affairs, Counselling Unit, and the University Clinic for the timely support and treatment of the affected students. He used the platform to commiserate with the bereaved families and the University community for the loss of precious souls and prayed that departed find favour in the bosom of God.
The President of the Student Representative Council, Mr. Felix Donkor, on behalf of the surviving students, thanked Management for the support extended to them, particularly for funding the medical bills of all affected students.
