UEW signs MOU with Al-Faruq College of Education
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between UEW and Al-faruq college of Education on 4th October, 2016 at the Council Chamber. The agreement is to provide mentoring for Al-faruq College of Education in the capacity building of their staff.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke said the University has established similar agreements with some colleges of Education with the aim of providing assistance in the professional training of their staff. He indicated that UEW is the only University that runs the Competency Based Teacher Education (CBTE) Programme in Ghana. He explained that the CBTE Programme is designed to build the capabilities of teachers in the educational sector.
On his part, the Acting Principal of Al-Faruq, Mr. Wahab Sualibu expressed his excitement about the relationship especially regarding the programmes which have been designed to suit their unique need.
Three of their optional courses in the 3-year Diploma in Basic Education, he said, shall be jointly owned by the University of Education, Winneba and Al-Faruq, College of Education, Wenchi. Thus, the General Basic Education, Early Childhood Education and Arabic Education. He was optimistic that the partnership will help staff to build upon their professional competencies.
Signing on behalf of UEW was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba Professor Mawutor Avoke, witnessed by the Registrar, Dr. C. Y. Akwaa-Mensah whiles the Ag. Principal of Al-Faruq, Mr. Wahab Sualibu signed for Al-Faruq College of Education, witnessed by the Ag. Vice Principal, Mr. Abbass Ali Hussam.
