HR Orients 2021 Retirees
The Division of Human Resource (HR), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in collaboration with the Retirees’ Send-Off Planning Committee, has organised a two-day intensive training workshop for Senior Members, Senior and Junior Staff, who will be retiring from active service in September 2021.
The workshop, which was held from Tuesday, 15th to Wednesday, 16th June, 2021, at the Registrar’s Conference Room, North Campus, Winneba, was aimed at orienting retirees on the benefits of retirement and to prepare them well for their retirement.
The two-day workshop saw participants taken through several thought-provoking topics such as; “Investment of Income after Retirement, Coping with Health Challenges after Retirement, Preparing for the Unknown, Knowing your Benefits in Retirement and Calculation of Ghana Universities Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS), SSNIT, Ex-gratia and Tier 2 Pension Scheme”.
In his opening remarks, the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., who chaired the programme, commended participants for their hard work, commitment and dedication to work as well as their immense contributions towards the successful growth of the University.
“Any civil or public servant who worked with the public service for 10, 20 or more years and is retiring or has retired is a blessing to the nation and the family, because looking at the challenges and temptations involved in their work, it takes but only the grace of God to successfully sailed through”, he indicated.
Surv. Osei-Barima Esq. urged participants to be prepared to lay down their tools with open-mindedness and live their lives peacefully with others rather than see their retirement as a curse. They should instead see their retirement as a blessing and an exemplary trial for their family, children and younger colleagues.
