Councils of Tertiary Institutions to be constituted soon
Professor Kwesi Yankah, Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education on Monday 19th June, 2017 indicated that, efforts are underway to re-constitute councils of Tertiary Institutions in Ghana. He said this during a meeting with Management, Deans and UTAG Executives of the University of Education, Winneba.
Prof. Yankah who visited the University following some troubling events in the past weeks indicated that, his visit was to give him the opportunity to have firsthand information on the issue so as not to rely on hear-says and media reports.
The Registrar briefed the Minister on events leading to the impasse and the current state of affairs in the University.
After listening to members of the University, he appealed to Management to ensure the University remained together and continue with its regular business irrespective of differences in opinion. He reminded the University to be mindful of ripple effects of its activities and ensure that, they do nothing that could possible disturb national peace.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke on his part informed the Minister that, contrary to reports of chaos and total breakdown of activities, the University was in session and everybody was at post.
