ASSOCIATION OF ECONOMICS STUDENTS-UEW (AES)
OVERVIEW /DESCRIPTION
Association of Economics Students has been in existence since 2014. It is an established framework of students’ government which secure for themselves and posterity, the blessings of liberty, equality of opportunity, ensure unity and interpersonal relations, and promote the general welfare of the Economics students; Guided by the need to have a unified front to ensure the fullest intellectual, social and moral development among students of the department; Cognizance of the need to have a formidable mouthpiece to channel the needs, interest, and survival of economics students; Inspired by the global interest in ensuring economic development as well as playing a meaningful role to uplift the level of economics education in Ghana.
MOTTO: Non Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus. Translated in English “Not for school, but for life we learn’’.
SLOGAN: Change for Progress
VISION: To have a credible organization for economics students of the University of Education, Winneba for capacity building, networking, and exposure into the corporate world.
To make a meaningful contribution to socio-economic development in Ghana.
MISSION: To improve the socio-economic and academic welfare of the members.
LOGO: The logo is made up of blue, white, and blue-black spheres. An eagle soaring with a scroll. An intersecting IS-LM curve. A ribbon banner with the motto on it at the bottom and “AES” on top.
AIM/ OBJECTIVES
- To seek and promote the general interest and welfare of members of the association.
- To create a common forum for the students and lecturers of economics.
- Promote the use of scientific approaches in the study of economics.
- To forge affiliation with other scientific institutions.
- To enable members, obtain higher academic standards.
- To organize occasional workshops, public fora, exhibitions, competitions, annual get-togethers, and exchange programs.
- To enlighten members on current economic issues;
- Expose the members to the corporate world;
- To provide a forum for the members to acquire new skills
