Dr. Sowah, Alexander Nii Adjei

Dr. Alexander Nii Adjei Sowah is a lecturer at the Department of Social Studies Education, University of Education, Winneba. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Ghana-German Centre for Development Studies [GGCDS] of the University of Ghana’s Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research [ISSER]. He also holds an MPhil in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon.  He has broad research interests in social and environmental change. He is especially interested in how changes in the social and environmental spheres influence socio-economic outcomes of different categories of people. Specifically his research explores climate change effects and contextual adaptations and its gendered outcomes, technology and social change, youth and development.  Dr. Sowah is a Queen Elizabeth Fellow at the Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He is also a junior fellow at the Right Livelihood Academy, University of Bonn, Germany. He has had extensive experience in industry and the academy, undertaking funded, commissioned and independent research with local and international organizations as well as teaching. Dr. Sowah joined UEW in June 2021. He is currently the coordinator for the graduate programme in the Department of Social Studies Education and one of the academic counsellors for level 200 students of the department.
