Dr Mbage, Bawa

Dr. Bawa Mbage is a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry Education at University of Education, Winneba. He holds PhD in chemistry from Northeast Normal University (NENU), China in 2022.  He also obtained the Master of Philosophy and Bachelor in Science Education from the University of Education, Winneba in 2014 and 2010 respectively.  As a PhD student, he won four (4) awards including the Best Outstanding International Students Award for International students in China, Outstanding International Graduating Ph.D Student of Northeast Normal University, Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for international students at Northeast Normal University and Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for International Students (Third Category)

He is currently lecturer at University of Education, Winneba and a professional teacher who has taught at the Basic level, Senior High School level and College of Education levels. While in Dambai College of Education, he served the Head of Department, Coordinator of Professional Development and grants.  He also served as a committee chairman in the College who wrote proposals and won a grant from UKaid through the Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (T-TEL) in Ghana Programme which led to the professional development training for about 168 tutors and about 1000 basic school teachers Oti Region of Ghana.

The research interests primarily focus on polyoxometalates catalysis, biomolecules detection and natural products analysis. His research works also focus on Chemistry Education, which comprises developing innovative methods for teaching chemistry that promotes student-centred learning for learners to learn to their full potential and improve problem-solving skills and critical thinking. He has 17 published articles in international journals and two published books to his credit. Other area of expertise is water climate Chemistry, Developing of School Improvement Plan for Senior High Schools, coaching and training of teachers for their professional development
