Biography
Dr. Abraham Kwesi Bisilki had his primary education at the Sibi L/A Primary School at Sibi in the then Nkwanta District, also formerly in the Volta Region of Ghana. Sibi is presently in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region. From 1995-1997, he moved on to attend the New Agou L/A J.S.S., then in the Nkwanta District of the Volta Region, but also now in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region. From 1998-2000, he enrolled at the St. Mary’s Seminary Secondary School at Lolobi, formerly in the Volta Region, but similarly now in the Oti Region. Upon excelling in his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (S.S.S.C.E) undertaken in the year 2000, Dr. Abraham Kwesi Bisilki proceeded to pursue a-four-year BA (Education) Degree at the University of Cape Coast from 2002-2006, taking his major and minor in English and History, respectively. He further holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Linguistics, earned at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Hong Kong, which qualification he earned in 2022.
Over the years, Dr. Abraham Kwesi Bisilki has garnered significant professional and research experience. Some of his professional experiences include serving as a teacher of English at the Kadjebi Asato Senior High School in the Oti Region, Ghana and a district information officer of the Gomoa West District in the Central Region of Ghana. Dr. Bisilki is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Linguistics and head of the Department of Ga-Dangme Education at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Dr. Bisilki’s researches have often delved into issues of grammatical description, linguistic typology and sociolinguistics. His research works have also focused more (but not exclusively) on Likpakpaanl (Konkomba), an understudied Mabia (Gur) language spoken in Ghana and Togo.
