Misinformation on Social Media about University of Education, Winneba Mature Entrance Examinations Requirements
The attention of University of Education, Winneba has been drawn to a post circulating on social media that seeks to misinform the general public, and Mature applicants in particular, on the requirements they need to satisfy in order to qualify to write the University’s Mature Entrance Examination and, if successful, gain admission into the University.
The University wishes to inform the general public that the content of the said post is riddled with inaccuracies and misinformation and does not reflect the rigid and robust admission system and requirements applicants must satisfy before they are given the opportunity to write any of our entrance examinations and later offered admission, if they are successful.
For the avoidance of doubt, the University of Education, Winneba Mature Entrance Examination requirements have been spelt clearly through our advertisements and Call for Application for Admission on our University Official website, in some major traditional newspapers and, also, on all our verified social media platforms. The University’s Mature applicant admission requirements and processes have always followed the accepted standard as indicated in the policy and guidelines of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) previously known as the National Accreditation Board (NAB) and the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE). Indeed, the University, since its establishment, has consistently followed the said policy and guidelines in addition to our own rigorous and robust internal admission processes.
Again, we wish to debunk far-fetched and dangerous misinformation communicated in the said post to the effect that any Mature applicant, upon successfully writing the entrance examination, can be admitted into ANY programme of their choice even if that was not their area of specialisation at the Senior High School. Our programmes are categorised into areas of specialisation and admission is predominantly based on the programme an applicant read at the Senior High School level upon which such student has officially been certified. This has been the standard practice for our University over the last three decades and we have never departed from these policy guidelines
The University wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced serious investigations to track down the perpetrators of the said post that seeks to ridicule the University’s admission processes thereby bringing the University’s name into disrepute.
The University takes this opportunity to advise the general public and all prospective applicants seeking information on our admission requirements and processes to visit the University’s official website at: www.uew.edu.gh and on our other verified social media platforms for detailed information and guidelines.
Finally, we urge the general public to disregard the content of the said post and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
Thank you.
