46th Annual Conference of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) | Call For Papers
IAEA welcomes abstracts for paper presentations for the Association’s 46th Annual Conference. The theme for the conference is Contemporary Issues in Educational Assessment. The theme has been further broken down into six sub-themes as follows:
- Using Technology in Educational Assessment
- Quality Assurance in School-Based Assessment
- Assessment for Inclusive Education
- Assessment of Practical and Oral Skills
- Threats to the Integrity of Examinations
- Assessment of Critical Thinking and Soft Skill
We welcome contributions related to this theme. Prospective participants are invited to present papers at the conference on sub-theme(s) of their choice.
The paper presentation would be organized in groups according to the sub-themes/topics. Each presentation will be given 20 minutes with 10 minutes for discussion. The abstracts submitted would be reviewed and their acceptance will depend on their relation to the conference theme as well as their relevance for the conference participants. The selection of papers will be done to reflect the multinational nature of the Association.
Timelines for Call for Papers
Timelines for submission of papers for the conference are as follows:
- Call for papers - 10th January, 2020
- Deadline for submission of abstract - 10th April, 2020
- Notification of acceptance - 8th May, 2020
- Deadline for the submission of full paper - 28th August, 2020
- Notification of acceptance of full paper - 11th September,2020
- Deadline for the submission of power point slides - 25th September, 2020
Instructions for Abstract Submission
The abstract of each paper for the conference should be uploaded on the website not later than 10th April, 2020. This can be done by creating a profile on the conference website.
The abstract should:
- not be longer than 350 words (one page)
- relate to the conference theme
- indicate the sub-theme and title of paper
- state the name(s) of author(s) and affiliated institution(s)
- state email address(es), and telephone number(s) of authors
Review
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Documentation and Publications Sub-Committee. The general aim of the committee is to ensure that the abstract is relevant to educational assessment and the conference theme.
Reviewers would be asked to indicate whether your abstract relates to a sub-theme of the conference and whether it should be included in the list of papers to be presented. You would receive a feedback from the Committee through email by 8th May 2020.
Criteria for Completed Research Paper
The full paper on accepted abstracts should be uploaded on the website not later than 28th August, 2020 and acceptance notice issued to the authors. Authors are expected to submit original works and be present at the conference to present their papers. The research papers would be evaluated using the criteria and structure below:

Papers submitted for the conference should follow the structure below:
- Introduction/Theoretical Framework/Conceptual Framework
- Purpose(s)/Objectives/Methods/Procedures
- Results/Findings
- Discussion
- Conclusion/Recommendations/Implications
- References [American Psychological Association (APA) format]
Language and Format
The abstract and completed research paper must be in:
- English Language
- MS Word Format
- Times New Roman and a font size of 12
- Single-spaced
