Abstract

Every text is written based on the author’s interest and experience. The novel Ancestral Sacrifice serves the purpose of presenting Akan cultural values from the text. Translating the text involves the translator reproducing the meaning conveyed in it. Some expressions deduced from the text are analyzed and translated in this article. The translation is done considering the context in which the text is written and the cultural background of the author. The text is reproduced from the perspective of prospective, prescriptive, descriptive theories that seem important in the translation of a text with literary value. We have translated the text take in into consideration the
different translation procedures proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet in their work Comparative Stylistics of French and English. It is deduced at the end of the work that cultural consideration is necessary for the translation of a
text.
