The workshop, held from Wednesday, 7th to Friday, 8th January, 2026, at the Video Conferencing Room, focused on critical issues shaping contemporary academic practice and career development.

Opening the programme, Prof. Samuel Alhassan Issah, the Dean of FGLE, underscored the importance of continuous professional development in an evolving academic environment. He noted that building staff capacity was essential to keeping pace with emerging trends, strengthening confidence and improving performance in teaching, research and service. He urged faculty members to take full advantage of the opportunity and actively participate in all sessions.

The workshop covered four key thematic areas: Managing Academic Publication Decisions, The Use and Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Managing PhD Studies and Understanding the Policies and Rules of the University as an Academic Staff. Sessions were facilitated by seasoned academics and administrators including Prof. Gifty Appiah-Adjei, Prof. Benjamin Ghansah, Prof. Kwasi Adomako and Mr. Alexander Essah.

Participants were taken through practical strategies for academic publishing, cautioned against predatory journals and guided on ethical AI use in teaching and research. They were also educated on University policies governing promotions, publications and staff conduct as well as the challenges and best practices for managing PhD studies.

At the close of the workshop, participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely, educative and impactful. They commended Faculty Management for prioritising staff development and called for more such programmes to sustain professional growth and strengthen academic excellence within the Faculty.
