Graphic Design Class of 2021 Donates to Department
The 2021 batch of the Department of Graphic Design, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has donated two sets of two-way 15-inch active speaker portable karaoke systems to the Department to enhance teaching and learning at large lecture halls.
A short ceremony was organised on Wednesday, 24th November, 2021, at the Department of Graphic Design Conference Room, North Campus of UEW, for the presentation.
Presenting the items to the Head of Department (HoD), the Dean, School of Creative Arts, UEW, Dr. Patrique deGraft-Yankson, revealed that he was doing it on behalf of the Graphic Design Class of 2021 that took the course GRDC 482.
“This course is called Graphic Design for the Real World. The nature of the course is such that it's a continuation of the entrepreneurial class they take in the third year. However, they took this course on their return from industrial attachment when they’re expected to combine all the experiences gained on attachment with all their classroom experiences to come up with projects.
“These are projects meant for the real world. In this course, students are motivated to find ways of sourcing real jobs. The essence is for students to have a taste of what it is to be a professional graphic designer,” the Dean remarked.
According to Dr. deGraft-Yankson, the gesture was the batch’s contribution towards effective teaching and learning at the Department of Graphic Design. “We are hoping that the items would be put to very good use. This Class promises to encourage their successors to follow suit.”
The Head, Department of Graphic Design, Dr. Joseph Essuman, was appreciative of the generosity of the Class of 2021 to the Department. “We least expected this but it has come to fruition. We appreciate the effort of these students and promise to put these items to good use for the benefit of the Department.”
Among the Lecturers present were; Dr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Amissah, Dr. Fiifi Esseku, Mr. Emmanuel Owusu, Mr. Stephen Osei-Akyiaw (Co-course Lecturer) and Mr. Benjamin Ebo Amissah (Co-course Lecturer).
Mr. Richard Owusu Ansah, Mr. Alex Wontumi, Mr. Emmanuel Graves, Ms. Regina Ghunney, Mr. David Sulley, Mr. Bright Lartey and Mr. Richard Asiamah represented the Class of 2021. Ms. Cynthia Amaglo completed in 2014.
