Dr. Srem-Sai, Medina
Biography
Dr. Medina Srem-Sai is a Lecturer, Sport Psychologist and Academic Counselor for students in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports, University of Education, Winneba. She teaches courses in Physical Education and Sports and as a Sport Psychologist, is highly interested in conducting research that is geared towards improving the general mental health and well-being of people especially, the youth in physical education and sports. She supervises students’ thesis at the bachelors, graduate and post-graduate levels.
Dr. Srem-Sai is a researcher who has published several peered-reviewed articles and conference papers to her credit. At the Faculty level, Dr. Srem-Sai serves as the secretary to the Faculty Seminar Board where lecturers and post-graduate students are given the platform to present academic papers, proposals and other research-related projects for feedback to enhance their work and share knowledge for professional development and growth.
Dr. Srem-Sai is the National Director of the World Sports Alliance-Inter-Governmental Organization (WSA-IGO) in Ghana. Dr. Srem-Sai is also an International Mentor for the Commonwealth Women’s Mentorship Programme in Sport, UK where women in sports across the globe are mentored yearly and awarded certificates for successfully completing the programme. Recently, Dr. Srem-Sai was invited as an expert on a Mental Health Stakeholder engagement programme by the Science for Africa Foundation, with its Headquarters based in Kenya. She won an Early Career conference Grant from the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2021 and has attended many local and international conferences both virtually and in person and research-stays in Germany to learn about new technologies in cognitive science and sport psychology.
She was a member of the technical team tasked by UNICEF-Ghana in collaboration with Ministry of Education to develop the Sports for Safe Schools - Manual (SSS-M) and a member of the technical team that developed the Physical Education and Sports Implementation Guideline for Ghana. She is a match commissioner for the National Women’s Football Premier League organized by the Ghana Football Association and the vice president of Dominion Leaders Foundation (DLF), an NGO that supports vulnerable children in under-privileged communities.
