UEW Hosts Nestlé Career Fair for SPED Students

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Friday, 22nd August 2025, hosted a career fair by Nestlé Ghana Limited to provide career guidance and opportunities for students of the Department of Special Education (SPED).

The event, held at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room, offered students the chance to interact with professionals from Nestlé and learn about various career pathways.

In her presentation, Ms. Foluke Jaiyeola gave an overview of Nestlé and emphasised the company’s dedication to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity. She outlined the company’s service departments including Order-to-Cash operations, Source-to-Pay and vital support functions such as IT, Legal and Human Resources.

A key feature of the programme was a panel discussion themed, “Living and Thriving: With Persons with Disabilities.” Six Nestlé employees shared personal experiences of navigating the workplace with disabilities. They encouraged students to embrace their abilities, focus on strengths, seize opportunities, build strong networks and adequately prepare for interviews and job applications.

Ms. Rita Johnson from Nestlé’s Talent Acquisition team in Tema also led a practical session on interview preparation. She offered students tips on effective self-presentation before, during and after interviews as well as strategies for showcasing their skills and experiences.

The interactive session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment. The career fair aimed to empower students of special education to explore employment opportunities at Nestlé and beyond. It also reaffirmed Nestlé’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment that values the contributions of persons with disabilities.

UEW expressed pride in hosting the event, noting that it aligns with the University’s mission to promote inclusive education and diversity within higher education and the workplace.
