UEW-ICT Delegation Explores Strategic Partnership with Angola Embassy

A delegation from the Faculty of Science Education (FSE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has engaged the Ambassador of Angola to Ghana, His Excellency João Domingos Baptista Quiosa, in a pivotal discussion to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and technological advancement.
The four-member delegation was led by Prof. Arkoful Sam, Vice-Dean of FSE at UEW, and included Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake, Head of the Department of ICT Education; Dr. Stephen Oppong Opoku, Chief Patron of INFOCTESS-UEW; and Mr. Ernest Koomson, President of INFOCTESS-UEW.
Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake introduced the delegation and reiterated the purpose of the visit. He referenced prior correspondence with the Ambassador’s office, emphasising the mutual benefits of fostering collaboration between UEW and Angolan institutions.
Prof. Dake reaffirmed UEW’s commitment to bridging technological gaps and ensuring students and faculty benefit from enhanced digital resources.

Ambassador Quiosa pledged his full support for the initiative and proposed expanding academic ties through faculty and student exchange programmes.
While supporting the initiative, Ambassador Quiosa noted that Angola has a university dedicated to training teaching professionals. However, he acknowledged that language barriers pose challenges to knowledge exchange. He emphasised the need for early communication with the UEW Vice-Chancellor to facilitate collaboration and ensure seamless academic engagement.
The Ambassador also highlighted potential partnerships with institutions like the Catholic University of Angola, which has expressed interest in engaging with UEW on academic and research collaborations.
A key highlight of the discussion was Ambassador Quiosa’s revelation that he had been in talks with fellow ambassadors to explore ways to provide laptops for underprivileged schools in Ghana. Given UEW’s request for ICT support, he assured the delegation that he would revisit these discussions with his colleagues to assess the feasibility of integrating UEW’s initiative into this broader digital support plan.
Expressing appreciation for the Ambassador’s openness to collaboration, Prof. Arkoful Sam reaffirmed UEW’s dedication to fostering international partnerships, particularly in ICT and teacher education, to drive innovation and global knowledge exchange.
This engagement marks a significant milestone in UEW’s quest for global academic collaboration, laying the foundation for a transformative partnership in ICT education and beyond.
