Biography
Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh is currently a Senior Lecturer in Educational Administration at the Department of Educational Foundations (DEF) in the School of Education and Life-Long Learning (SELLL), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana. At the Department of Educational Foundations, he teaches Principles and Practice of Teaching, Trends in Education and School Management in Ghana, and 21st Century Pedagogies. Between 2008 and 2020, he was a faculty member of the Department of Basic Education where he taught courses in Leadership and Human Resource in Basic Education, Supervision of Instruction in Basic Schools, Administration and Management in Basic Schools, and Sociology of Education. Prior to joining the Department of Basic Education in 2008, Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh worked as an Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, UEW. He has served on many Statutory and Ad hoc Committees in UEW, and has also held various leadership positions in different capacities including Examination Officer, Coordinator for Graduate Programmes and Head of the Department of Basic Education, UEW. Currently, he is the Head of the Department of Internship and Supported Teaching in School at the Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development, UEW. Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh holds a Bachelor of Education in Psychology, Diploma in Economics, Master of Philosophy in Educational Administration, a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership, all from the University of Cape Coast. He has also obtained a Diploma and Advance Diploma in Human Resource Development from the Institute of Commercial Management, United Kingdom. Apart from these, Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh has undertaken numerous short professional courses in Teacher Education, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Managerial Leadership, Administration, Modern Concepts in Management of Non-Governmental Organisations, and Human Resource Management. He has attended and presented research papers at a number of international and local conferences. He has twenty-seven years of teaching experience at Ghana's pre-tertiary (Senior High School) and tertiary (College of Education and University) education levels. Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh has authored and co-authored over thirty articles in peer reviewed and indexed journals. He served as an Associate Editor and a reviewer for the International Journal of Basic Education Research and Policy. He also reviews manuscripts for the Journal of School Leadership, International Journal of Educational Policy Research and Review, and African Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. He is the author of a book titled Administration and Management in Schools and a co-author of two books titled Human Resource Management: Theory and Practice in Education, and Administration and Management of Pre-tertiary Education in Ghana. Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh has also been involved in the ongoing Teacher Education Reforms in Ghana, contributing to writing Pedagogy Courses in the Curriculum, Course Manuals, and Professional Development Manuals. He is a member of the Teacher Education Curriculum Technical Working Group that reviewed some Education Policy Documents (National Teachers Standards, National Teacher Education Curriculum Framework, and National Assessment Policy). Dr. Kweku Esia-Donkoh was a Technical Lead for the University of Education, Winneba Project Team that won a grant to develop for accreditation, a Special Post Graduate Diploma in Education (SPGDE) Curriculum for National Service Persons teaching in schools but do not have education background. In the 2022 Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index, he was recognised as one of the Ghana Top 1,000 Scientists (Version 2), ranked 26th in UEW and 779th in Ghana.
