The College of Languages Education (CoLANGE) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has taken steps to strengthen ties with the Ga Traditional Council.

A six-member delegation, led by Prof. (Mrs.) Rebecca Akpanglo-Nartey, Principal of CoLANGE, on Friday, 24th January, 2025, visited the Ga Traditional Council to express gratitude for their support during the Ga Homecoming on campus and their commitment to student welfare.

The delegation met with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantsε and President of the Ga Traditional Council, who assured them of the Council's commitment to fulfilling its promise of facilitating the construction of a student hostel. The Council had previously promised to support the university's infrastructure development.

Prof. (Mrs.) Rebecca Akpanglo-Nartey highlighted the challenges faced by the Department of Ga-Dangme, particularly in student enrolment. She appealed for scholarships for Ga students to enable many more to enroll on the programme.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II promised to gather his chiefs to visit CoLANGE and inspect the parcel of land identified for the students’ hostel project. He also assured the delegation that he would discuss the issue of low enrollment numbers with his sub-chiefs and explore ways to encourage students to enroll.

The visit demonstrates the strong relationship between CoLANGE and the Ga Traditional Council, which has been fostered through mutual respect and cooperation. The Council's commitment to supporting the university's development is a testament to the importance of community partnerships in education.
