Welcome to Centre for International Programmes
Dear Students,
As Dean of the Centre for International Programmes (CIP), it is a great privilege to welcome you to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). The Centre for International Programmes is responsible for managing the international relations of UEW. It is the first point of call for all international students and guests of the University.
The Centre collaborates with relevant departments to design and run programmes, such as English with Pedagogy, Proficiency in English, and Translation and Interpretation, for international students. The Centre handles immigration issues and travel arrangements for international students and assists them to acclimatize, once in Ghana. The Centre arranges accommodation for international students and guides them as they navigate the terrain in Ghana and Winneba. It organises orientation programmes for international students to assist them in managing cultural shocks, so that they can socially integrate quickly and adapt to their new environment.
The centre prioritises internationalisation as its cornerstone since it allows international students to settle down at a fast pace, thus making learning an enjoyable experience for them. Through internationalization, CIP is exposed to different practices and experiences that help it to improve its core functions. In return, international students are encouraged to share their experiences with their friends and families when they return to their home countries.
The CIP supervises the implementation of outbound and inbound student mobilities in UEW. These mobilities provide opportunities for students to experience academic programmes offered at different universities. They expand the knowledge and skills of students in understanding global issues and perspectives. They enable participants to broaden their horizons and immerse themselves in a different cultural and educational setting, fostering personal growth and a deeper understanding of global perspectives.
CIP celebrates racial diversity and cultivates harmony and respect for all students. Our lecturers at UEW assist by nurturing equality and inclusion within the classroom. They provide instruction through a lens of diversity that promotes tolerance of students with differing ideals and practices.
I look forward to partnering with you and welcoming you to our beautiful university through the CIP as the main corridor.
