Biography
Dr. Ussif is a Lecturer and Postgraduate Coordinator at the Department of Applied Finance and Policy Management of the University of Education Winneba, Ghana. Ramatu teaches Microfinance and Rural Banking, Microenterprise finance, Project Finance, Life and Health Insurance, Economy of Ghana, Principles of Micro and Macro Economics.
She holds a Ph.D. Finance from Anadolu University, Eskisehir, Turkey. Ramatu also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (PGDTLHE) from the University of Education Winneba. Before this, Dr. Ussif held a Master of Science Degree in Development Finance and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana. She also has professional diplomas from Ghana (Higher National Diploma) and the United Kingdom (Project Management and Human Resource Management from the Institute of Commercial Management London).
Dr. Ramatu research exploit commenced in July 2005 with Ghana Statistical Service on a national project dubbed “Ghana Living Standard Survey (GLSS 5)” which is the country's most important and challenging research spanning for a year. She was awarded the best and most hard-working field researcher for the year 2005/2006 by both the Government Statistician and the Deputy Government Statistician. For the past 18years, Ramatu has worked as a Senior Independent Researcher and Consultant for Regional, National, and International Organizations. Prominent among these organizations include the Ghana Statistical Service, German Development Corporation, University of Ghana (RIPs, ISSER, CMS, SPH, NMIMR), UNICEF, UNDP, IPA, WHS, and some Ministries (MOE, MOH, and MOE). Dr. Ussif has been an active trainer and Supervisor in most training programmes in the country and she has trained thousands of researchers and field assistants on different research projects including but not limited to PHC, IBES.
Ussif has an extensive publication record, with over 30 research papers published in leading international journals. Ramatu has played a vital role in academia, having successfully supervised over ten Master students and currently supervising the research of five Master students. Ramatu is actively involved in professional bodies, and she serves as an Editorial Board Member Globus Journal of Progressive Education, Member of Scope Database - International Advisory Board, and a reviewer in several international peer reviewed journals. Furthermore, she contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for various international research journals.
Ramatu's expertise, research interest and skills include Financial Inclusion (MFIs, SMEs, IBF, NBFI), Financial Regulations, Green Finance, Development Finance, Banking and Finance, Financial Institution, SGDs, Marketing, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Teaching Pedagogy, ICT, Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed method research.
