Call for Applications | The UEW Vice-Chancellor's Community Initiative

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) invites applications from eligible Effutu indigenes for the Vice-Chancellor’s Community Initiative Programme. This sponsored programme offers a fully funded, six-week vocational skills training course designed to foster self-reliance, economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods within the Effutu community.

Programme Overview

To support this local youth development, the University will cover all training costs. Selected participants will not be required to pay tuition fees or for training materials.

Core Vocational Pathways

Applicants may select one of the following three practical training streams:

  • Pastry and Commercial Bread Making: Advanced techniques in baking and pastry production with a specific focus on commercial scalability.
  • Batik and Tie-Dye Production: Practical instruction in fabric design, textile colouring and market-ready production methodologies.
  • Wig Artistry and Professional Installation: Comprehensive training in wig cap construction and advanced installation techniques.

Business Management & Entrepreneurship

In addition to technical vocational skills, the curriculum includes mandatory modules in materials management, entrepreneurship, product marketing and professional packaging to ensure participants are fully equipped to launch and manage successful businesses.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for admission:

  • Must be a verified indigene of Effutu
  • Must be between 16 and 35 years of age
  • Must hold a Junior High School (JHS) or Senior High School (SHS) certificate

Application Procedure

Physical application forms can be obtained at the following designated locations:

  • Nyce FM Offices: Located near the Winneba Roundabout (at the former Run-Off Restaurant premises).
  • Pecku Building Security Post: Located at the North Campus, University of Education, Winneba.

Deadline & Additional Information

  • Submission Deadline: All completed application forms must be submitted on or before 24th September, 2026.
  • Admissions Policy: Enrollment spaces are strictly limited. Selection will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants.
