Description
The study of Logistics and Transport Management has become crucial for stakeholders in both manufacturing and service industries as a result of globalisation and the severe supply chain disruptions affecting organisations and economies worldwide. There is a critical shortage of professional talent in logistics and transport management across Ghana and much of Africa. This degree addresses that manpower gap, equipping both practitioners and prospective students with the analytical and practical skills required to plan, manage, and improve logistics and transport systems in the private and public sectors.
The programme is one of only a few of its kind among Ghana's public universities. Its well-structured, industry-informed curriculum blends theory with hands-on practical training, including guest lectures from industry professionals and a full semester of industrial internship, to prepare graduates for the evolving dynamics of logistics, transport, and supply chain operations. It is designed in alignment with UEW's mission to provide competency-based, career-focused education for self-reliance and accelerated national development.

- Equip students with in-depth knowledge of core logistics and transportation areas, including transportation management, warehousing, and inventory control.
- Develop analytical and decision-making skills for evaluating logistics costs, trade-offs, transport modes, and network design.
- Build practical and managerial competencies for planning, organising, directing, and controlling logistics and transport operations.
- Equip students with skills in logistics information systems, performance measurement, and risk management for enhancing logistics and transport efficiency.

Practical Training
Students benefit from educational tours, hands-on skills workshops, guest industry lectures, and a full semester of Industrial Internship (Year 4, Semester 1) in public and private sector institutions, followed by a Post-Internship Seminar to consolidate learning.

Target Group
The programme is designed primarily for Senior High School (SHS) graduates, with additional opportunities for:
- Business owners and practitioners seeking to upgrade their knowledge in Logistics and Transport Management
- Holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND) and other Post-Diploma qualifications in Procurement, Logistics and Transport Management, or Business Administration
- Mature applicants (25 years and above) seeking a career change or upgrade into logistics and transport management
- Holders of relevant international/foreign qualifications
Entry Requirements
a. SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) elective subjects.
b. WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) elective subjects.
c. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level candidates: Passes in three (3) GCE Advanced Level subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics, a General Science or Social Studies.
d. Admission of Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates: Applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (at least second-class lower division).
e. Other diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) may be similarly considered.
f. Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) candidates: Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)
g. Mature Students’ entry: The applicant must be at least twenty-five (25) years old, at the time of registration and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate document. In addition, the applicant must pass the mature students’ entrance examinations conducted by UEW and a possible interview.
h. Foreign Qualifications: All foreign qualifications would be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana.
i. Professional and other entry qualifications: All professional certificates and any other qualification beyond the ones specified above would be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission.
j. WASSCE Awaiting Results: Candidates who write the May/June WASSCE examinations are given the opportunity to apply for provisional admission.
